Ruffle Purse

I found this super cute dress at Goodwill new with tags for $3.99.   Unfortunately, it’s not my size.

It’s a 2T so it’s unlikely I’ll ever find one in my size.  I loved the color and the ruffles – perfect for a purse!

The dress already had a lining, so all I needed to add was a strap.  This owl fabric seemed like a good choice.

First I cut off the top of the dress, turned it inside out, and stitched across the bottom to make the sack part of the purse.

Then I made some bias tape out of the fabric and stitched it around the purse opening.  The strap is simply a tube.  I made the strap long so that it can be worn across the body or it can be knotted to make it shorter.  I attached the strap with the decorative buttons and used the last button and a small piece of ribbon to make a closure.

I saved the fabric flower from the dress and re-attached it to the purse.

Can you believe it Got It At Goodwill?
